Job Scope: 

The Lab Chemist is responsible for performing routine and non-routine analyses according to 

customer requirements or standard methods. This role ensures all testing equipment is properly 

maintained and calibrated, prepares and standardizes reagents, witness tests conducted outside 

the laboratory, and coordinates with other departments and clients for sample collection and 

dispatch. The Lab Chemist must adhere to ISO 17025 requirements to maintain high-quality 

standards. 

Key Responsibilities: 

1. Analysis and Testing 

Routine and Non-Routine Analysis: Perform routine and non-routine analyses in accordance 

with customer requirements or standard methods. 

Equipment Maintenance: Ensure all testing equipment is properly maintained and calibrated as 

per the program. 

Reagent Preparation: Conduct preparation and standardization of reagents. 

2. Field Testing and Coordination 

Witnessing Tests: Attend and witness tests conducted outside of the laboratory. 

Sample Coordination: Coordinate with other departments and clients for sample collection and 

dispatch. 

3. Compliance and Quality Assurance 

ISO 17025 Compliance: Ensure all activities are conducted in compliance with ISO 17025 

requirements to maintain quality standards. 

 

Qualifications:

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in science, majoring in Chemical, Petroleum, or a related field.

 

Experience:

• 0 to 2 years of experience in Chemical Testing.

 

Skills and Abilities:

ISO Knowledge: Knowledge of ISO 17025 requirements.

Technical Proficiency: Ability to perform routine and non-routine chemical analyses.

Equipment Maintenance: Skill in maintaining and calibrating testing equipment.

Reagent Handling: Competence in preparing and standardizing reagents.

Field Work: Ability to attend and witness tests outside the laboratory.

Coordination: Effective coordination with other departments and clients for sample

collection and dispatch.

Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all tasks.
