Auditor - Business Assurance

Job Scope:
The Auditor is responsible for ensuring all audit assignments are performed competently and on
schedule. This includes reviewing assignment instructions, conducting audits and assessments,
preparing detailed audit plans, and managing audit teams. The Auditor also plays a crucial role in
technical reviews, file assessments, and verifying auditor competence. Maintaining high
standards of impartiality and adherence to Intertek’s policies and international guidelines is
essential.

 

Key Responsibilities:

1. Audit Process
Assignment Review: Assess the adequacy and practicality of assignment instructions.
On-site Audits: Visit manufacturers and facilities to perform audits and assessments according
to requirements.
Audit Planning: Prepare audit plans detailing areas and responsibilities, especially in team
settings.
Briefings: Conduct pre-audit briefings if required.
Team Leadership: Act as the spokesperson for the audit team during meetings and audits.
Non-Conformance Management: Review and approve any non-conformances documented
during audits.
Reporting: Provide timely and detailed reports of the audits performed.
Compliance: Ensure all audits and assessments comply with Intertek’s work instructions,
procedures, and international guidelines.

 

2. Technical Review
File Prioritization: Determine priorities for file review based on audit type.

Audit Review: Perform technical reviews of audit files, checking all necessary elements.

Action Decisions: Decide on necessary steps such as requesting additional information or revising

client reports.

Witnessing Auditor

Competence Verification: Verify the competence of candidates by assessing their knowledge and

ability to apply it, using the appropriate Knowledge Verification Guideline.

 

Qualifications:

Education:

• MSc, BSc, or equivalent in Science or related field.

 

Training:

• At least 40 hours of food safety training.

• Current IRCA Auditor / Lead Auditor Accreditation or equivalent.

 

Experience:

• Minimum of 5 years of full-time experience in the food chain-related industry, including

at least 2 years in quality assurance or food safety within food production, manufacturing,

retailing, inspection, or enforcement.

 

Skills and Abilities:

Audit Process Knowledge: Understanding of business management practices and audit

principles.

Intertek Processes: Familiarity with Intertek’s processes and requirements (mainly

GOP103-Tha series of documents).

Language Proficiency: Strong language skills for smooth communication at all levels

within the client organization.

Technical Skills: Proficient in notetaking, report-writing, and presentation.

Management Skills: Effective time and people management, especially during opening

and closing meetings, and audit report preparation.

Standards Knowledge: Knowledge of specific management system standards and

normative documents, including ISO9001, ISO45001, ISO14001.

Impartiality: Understanding the role of impartiality in certification activities and the

ability to act independently.

Software Proficiency: Ability to work with specialized software for certification processes.

Analytical Skills: Competence in gathering, managing, and analysing information to make

objective judgments.
